Yap, Joseph
Biography
Joseph Yap is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Library Studies at the Doctoral School of Literary Studies, Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary. He holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Library and Information Science from the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of the Philippines Diliman. A distinguished scholar, Joseph is recognized for his professional excellence and contributions to the field of library and information science. In 2024, he received the Professional Excellence Award from the Society for Library Professionals and the Special Libraries Association Asian Community, as well as the Professional Award from the Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines; in 2023, he was honored with the Excellence Award in Librarianship (Global Filipino Practice and Service) by the Philippine Federation of Professional Associations. His research primarily examines the civic roles and responsibilities of librarians in the context of information crises and disorders. He has published extensively on topics such as information literacy, reference services, and collection management, with work appearing in leading peer-reviewed journals including IFLA Journal, Public Library Quarterly, Digital Library Perspectives, Information Discovery and Delivery, The Reference Librarian, Journal of Information Literacy, Health Information & Libraries Journal, and Journal of Library Administration.
