Angeles, Chito
Biography
Mr. Angeles is renowned for his expertise in developing innovative IT applications and automating library services. He specializes in database design and management, web technologies, digitization, digital preservation, and data processing.
He revolutionized digital access and scholarly research at the University of the Philippines by leading the development and implementation of pioneering platforms such as Tuklas, the UP Library’s resource discovery interface; Buklod, its library services platform; and Digital Archives @UP Diliman, the University’s institutional repository.
He served as the University Librarian of UP Diliman (UPD) for two terms, from 2014 to 2020, playing a pivotal role in various library modernization projects.
At present, he heads the Information Technology Division of the UPD University Library and serves as a Senior Lecturer at the UP School of Library and Information Studies, where he teaches graduate-level courses in database design and programming in LIS and digital libraries.
