Lacsamana, Alistair Troy

Biography

Alistair Troy B. Lacsamana is a dedicated librarian with over 28 years of experience in public librarianship, children’s services, and outreach programs. He is widely recognized for promoting reading and literacy through innovative storytelling activities and community engagement. He is the creator of Heneral Basa, the Quezon City Public Library’s official reading superhero, designed to inspire young readers. His expertise has been recognized both locally and internationally: he was part of the Emerging Leaders 2008 of the American Library Association and received the Best Children’s Librarian Award from the National Library of the Philippines in 2022. He has also served as a judge for the National Children’s Book Awards (3rd, 4th, and 8th cycles), contributing to the recognition of quality literature for children and young adults. His current initiatives focus on inclusive services, particularly the integration of Filipino Sign Language resources and the development of storybooks in braille.
