The UP School of Library and Information Studies (UP SLIS) received the People-Driven Impact Special Citation during the closing ceremonies of the UPD QAhusayan Fair 2026 on September 11, 2026. The citation is given to an entry exemplifying a unit’s commitment to service improvements.
The fair ran from September 7 to 11, 2026, at the lobby of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy in UPD, during which the SLIS poster “QAhusayan in Practice: Strengthening Systems and Support at UP SLIS” was displayed.
SLIS QA Staff member Mr. Ferlito Arceo presented the poster featuring four initiatives from different SLIS offices: the SLIS College Manual from the OCS, led by Asst. Prof. Mark Anthony Santos; the SLIS Administrative Staff Manual from the Admin, led by Ms. Shelly Bayang; the SLIS Data Comms, developed by Mx. Iam Buenviaje; and the SLIS Library’s Born to Sablay Thesis Marathon, led by Ms. Jessie Rose Bagunu.
Also during the closing ceremonies, UP SLIS was recognized for its successful External Quality Assurance (EQA) Type F undertaking through the AUN-QA Programme Assessment of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS).
SLIS Quality Assurance Officer Asst. Prof. Yhna Therese Santos also received recognition for completing the AUN-QA Tier 3 Training Workshop for Accomplishing Institutional Assessment Version 3 earlier this year.
All these add to the recent milestones of UP SLIS and the work being done across the School to improve its programs and services.
