As the Center of Excellence for LIS Education, the UP School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) endeavours to uphold its goals to enrich LIS teachers in the pedagogy of the following areas of the LIS curriculum: Information and Communication Technologies, Developments in Cataloging and Classification, and Archives and Records Management. These three areas were identified as the ones where most teachers have limited training/resources. While most teachers have finished their graduate studies, a continuing education program on pedagogy is much needed.

In this connection, we are inviting your LIS teachers to attend the three-day LIS Teacher Training on May 18-20, 2016 at the UP SLIS Rooms 3-4. The primary objective of the program is to equip LIS teachers with the necessary training in both content and pedagogy for the three areas mentioned earlier. The training is concurrently conducted, as such, it is suggested that each school would send at least 3 teachers from their end one for Information and Communication Technologies, one for Cataloging and Classification, one for Archives and Records Management.

The registration fee is Php 7,000.00 for each participant and this includes food (lunch and snacks), and the kit which includes handouts, teaching materials, modules, flash drive, and writing materials but excluding accommodation. Information on accommodation within the campus is attached.
