Assistant Professor Jonathan Isip served as resource person for the Training-Workshop on Archives Development and Digital Preservation conducted by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) last August 25–27, 2026. The workshop covered the foundations of archives and records management, collection development, archival appraisal and acquisition, arrangement and description, preservation, digital preservation, and public access.

Through a series of lectures and participatory workshops, Isip guided PIDS personnel in identifying the Institute's documentary heritage, developing collection priorities, and formulating frameworks for archival governance and continuing preservation. Participants worked toward drafting collection development and access policies, defining institutional responsibilities, and designing workflows for the acquisition, management, preservation, and use of archival materials. Particular emphasis was placed on establishing an institutional archive that preserve not only administrative and research records but also documentary evidence of their contributions to public policy and Philippine society. The engagement highlighted the importance of professional archival practice and sustainable institutional support in ensuring that PIDS' research, organisational history, and contributions to Philippine development remain preserved, accessible, and meaningful to future generations.

UP SLIS continues to support institutions in establishing and strengthening their archives through professional training, technical guidance, and capacity-building initiatives. Organisations interested in developing their archival programmes or conducting similar training workshops are encouraged to coordinate with us via cpe@slis.upd.edu.ph to explore opportunities for collaboration.
