41st Gabriel A. Bernardo Memorial Lecture Series

The UP School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) invites the public to the 41st Gabriel A. Bernardo (GAB) Memorial Lecture on Friday, 13 March 2020, 8:00 AM to 12: 00 NN at the UP Balay Kalinaw, Ikeda Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

Commenced in 1974, the GAB Memorial Lecture is the Philippines longest-running lecture series related to library and information studies. This event has been organized annually by the UP SLIS in recognition of the Doyen of Philippine Librarianship and his contribution to library education and practice. 

This years theme, Envisioning Critical Librarianship for the Philippines, will provide thought-provoking discussions on the ethical, social and political approaches to library and information work. Our invited guest speakers are Ms. Emily Drabinski, Critical Pedagogy Librarian at CUNY, and Dr. Edson Tandoc, Jr., Associate Professor at Nanyang Technological University.
