2024 Information Research Skills Development Workshop

UPSLIS in partnership with Library-Bayanihan Inc. will be conducting an Information Research Skills Development Workshop for LIS teachers and Practitioners on 27-29 August 2024.

This intensive training program aims to enhance participants' research capabilities, enabling them draft research proposals or articles for publication. Throughout the workshop, attendees will engage in a series of interactive sessions, practical exercises, and collaborative projects that emphasize critical thinking, information retrieval, and the application of advanced research methodologies.

Participants will explore various information research theories that they can employ in their research. Focusing on qualitative methods, the participants will also design and implement qualitative techniques applicable to their respective topics. The workshop will also cover ethical research practices, the integration of research skills into LIS curricula, and strategies for successful academic publication.

At the end of this training-workshop, participants are expected to:

  • Develop questions/problems for qualitative research specifically applying information research theories

  • Draft positionality statements for their research

  • Design qualitative data collection and analysis methods

  • Implement data collection and analysis
