UP SLIS welcomes new additions to its adjunct faculty roster and library staff, while bidding farewell to some this semester (2nd, 16-17).
Atty. Rolly Francis Peoro obtained his BLIS degree from UP SLIS in 2007. Thereafter, he held several key corporate positions in Coca-Cola Bottlers Phils., and Globe Telecom. In 2011 he took and passed the Librarian Licensure examinations. He then pursued a Juris Doctor degree in San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) College of Law graduating in 2014 as its Class Valedictorian and recipient of the SSC-R Academic Medal of Excellence. He passed the Bar exams a year after and joined Diaz, Del Rosario and Associates. Pursuing his advocacies he currently serves as the Legal Officer of KAISAHAN, a non-government, non- profit organization advocating for social justice through genuine agrarian reform and rural development. Atty. Peoro joins the UP SLIS Law Librarianship and Legal Information Faculty with former Dean Vyva Aguirre and Ms. Mariel Mallonga. This semester, he’s teaching LIS 120 and LIS 248.
Both Prof. Mark Santos and Prof. Sonia Pascua have been promoted to Assistant Professors, the latter after finishing her MS in Computer Science from UP Diliman last 2016.
Ms. Jessie Rose Bagunu (BLIS ’03, MLIS ’11) is now the Head Librarian of the UP SLIS Library. She takes over the post of Mrs. Soledad Fonseca who, after 33 years of service to our library, now serves as the Head Librarian of the CSWCD Library. Ms. Corazon Ras has also moved to the CAL Library after 15 years of being with UP SLIS.
After 42 long years of service, Mrs. Josefina Cervas, current Administrative Officer, will be retiring from the University this coming March 2017.
