The iSchools Organization is a worldwide association of information schools dedicated to advancing research and studies in the information field. These schools, colleges, and departments have been newly created or are evolving from programs formerly focused on specific tracks such as information technology, library science, informatics, information science, and more.

UPSLIS Declared CHED Center of Excellence
In a Memorandum Order* last 23 December 2015, the Commission on Higher Education declare the University of the Philippines School of Library and Information Studies as the first Center of Excellence among the universities and colleges with Library and Information programs in the Philippines.
UP SLIS Hosts ALIEP 2015
The UP School of Library and Information Studies hosts the 6th International Conference on Asia-Pacific Library and Information Education and Practice at the Philippine International Convention Centre last October 28-30, in the first time the bi-annual conference is held in the Philippines. The conference had the theme "Exploring Unity Amid Diversity" and was intended to explore how the LIS academe and practitioners can unite between participating countries to improve the profession, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
